

Ed Steers was born to Lawson and Bessie Steers on July 27, 1937 in Bakersfield, Ca. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1959. While serving overseas in Germany, Ed met and married Hildegard Mistler they later had three children, Christine, Pamela and Eddie. After serving in the Army, Ed returned to Bakersfield where he worked as a cement finisher for 28 years. Once Ed retired you could most likely find him on the Kern River or just about any body of water doing what he loved to do, fishing was his happiness. The only person who could ever out fish him was his second wife Lynda.
Ed and Lynda were married July 28, 1979. Together they spent many years hunting and fishing in bass tournaments. Ed's big personality and infectious smile brought him friends from all different places. Over the years he became a fixture at the Grenadier Lounge where he loved to sit and share stories of his fishing adventures , some true, some not so true. Over the past few years Ed developed numerous ailments which he fought courageously. Through the illness and pain Ed still somehow managed to keep a smile on his face and a fishing pole in his hand. Ed was called home to be with the Lord on January 30,2015. He was surrounded by his loving wife and children.
Ed is proceeded in death by his parents Lawson and Bessie, he is survived by his wife Lynda Steers, children; Christine Lancaster, Pamela Perez, Eddie Steers, grandchildren; Heather and Justin Lancaster, Amanda and Austin Brown, Krystal and Michael Steers. Ed also leaves behind brothers Kenny Steers, Denny Steers, Billy Steers, and his sister Deloris Epperson. The family would like to thank his caregiver Tammy Bunton for her compassion and kindess to Ed in his final days.
A viewing will be held at Hillcrest Memorial on February 4, 2015 4pm-8, a graveside service will be held on February 5, 2015 at 11.00 am.
