Patsy Joan Higgins

Born in Tuttle, Oklahoma on December 19th, 1933. Died on June 7th, 2021 in Bakersfield, California.

Patsy was a child of the Dust Bowl, moving to California in 1935. She attended Wasco and McFarland High Schools where she was an active participant in school activities.

She met and married Alex Higgins Jr. in 1952 and they were blessed with three beautiful daughters. Alex died in 1967 at the young age of 39, leaving Patsy to raise her family.

Patsy attended college to acquire secretarial skills. She began working for the BCSD until her retirement in 1995. Her writing skills allowed her to publish numerous articles for Christian publications. Patsy was an insightful poet, showcased in her published anthology. In retirement, she spent her time organizing the church library, attending her grandchildren’s school activities and working at the school Book Fairs.

Patsy’s bible and study books were consistently spread across the kitchen table, instilling the importance of daily study.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Mary Pearce , brother Harold Pearce, sister Geraldine Eoff and sister Doris Anderson.

Patsy is survived by children Terri Thomas (Richard), Lori Blair (Keith), Kelly Lawrence (Lanny), 9 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Patsy endured many years of physical pain and is now at rest. The family would like to thank The Palms for caring for our mother over the last few years. The family would also like to thank Hoffman Hospice for the kindness they shared during her final moments.
