Most of my memories are from childhood days, of an uncle who always had a big grin, dancing eyes, and an intensity about Life.  My parents, Patty (Stewart)and Merrill Wayne Bones, and Aunt Connie and Uncle Dick all attended Ottawa High School in Kansas. The old year books show evidence that my Uncle (and Aunt)'s leadership skills and ability to make friends were qualities that shone even then. Aunt Connie, sweet in that 50's sweater, long skirt and bobby sox, knew he was the one, then and for always. I didn't get to spend a lot of time with them, but simply remember the two of them as a couple, exemplifying love and care for one another and for Family, in good times and bad. If I hear a tiny little voice in my head (Dotty Jean! Get up, get going, and Smile!) I will know it is Uncle Dick 'phoning' Long Distance. His memory is a living blessing to all of us.

I am so sorry to hear of Richard's passing, and your loss. He was such a kind, humble person. May you find comfort in your memories.

To the family of Dick:
Dick was my boss the last few years I worked for Contel.  He was a nice and kind person.  I am so sorry to hear of his passing.  I don't know of anyone that didn't like Dick.  I just can't believe he is gone.  A few years ago my husband and I moved to Northern Arkansas where I was raised so I haven't seen him since I left Contel.  You have my sincere sympathy. I am so sorry.  Dick was my boss at Contel for a while.  He was a nice and kind person.  I have moved away but my friend from Bakersfield let me know the sad situation. My prayers are with your family.  I, too, worked for and with Dick at Contel and was so happy to get back in touch with him when he became our client a couple of years ago.  Such a kind man who will be missed terribly.

I had the priviledge to work with Dick for many years at Contel. What a wonderful person and friend to all. Dick always had a smile on his face and something good to say about everyone. Connie my prayers are with you and family.
