

Bob was born in Fellows, California on January 22, 1922, to Ethel (Maxey) & James Smith.
He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in October 1942. Stationed at Naval Air Station Barbers Point, Hawaii, as Aviation Metalsmith First Class. Bob was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy in October 1945.
A marriage to Sheila (Mclean) in 1949 lasted for 58 years until her death in 2007. He lived in the home he built until his passing, 60 years. Bob & Sheila enjoyed a very loving and supportive relationship.
Employed by Gundlach's as a sheetmetal worker for most of his career until an injury on the job in 1974 caused him permanent disability. He remained a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 105 for over 70 years.
Bob is survived by his children Robert, Gaynor (Tony Sozutek) and Stacy. Also by his sisters-in-law Joyce Mclean and Beverlie Mclean as well as many wonderful nieces and nephews.
Heartfelt thanks to Bob's care team from Optimal Hospice and overwhelming gratitude to the many caregivers from Around the Clock who have provided varying levels of care over the past 9 years.
