

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Luella Mattox, and his sister Connie Anderson. He is survived by his loving wife, Maria Arlene Mattox; daughter Christy Lewis; sons Joe Parish and Rodney Mattox Jr.; Grandchildren Hailey Schaeffer, Michael Lewis, Lexie Lewis and Kayson Parish; and 2 great grandchildren. He also has many aunts, uncles, and cousins on the Rhoades and Mattox sides of the family.
Rodney loved life and having fun. He attended school in Bakersfield and graduated from East Bakersfield High. Rodney worked for years through Total Western at Kern Oil. He was very active in the NA program. He was very proud that he had just received his 23 year clean medallion.
Rodney loved to travel with his wife since he retired. They went over to the beach several times a month just to have lunch and have fun. He enjoyed going to estate sales to find treasures. He loved visiting his friends and NA buddies. He loved to drive his red corvette and GO fast.
His corvette was his pride and joy along with his wife. He loved eating sweets and peanut butter on everything. He had his special TV shows that he watched and you better not get in his way. He was a unique person, you liked him or you didn't and he didn't really care. He truly cared about his friends. His wife, Arlene was the love of his life and he truly worshipped her.
Rodney will be truly missed.
