

Ronald E. Rohmiller 1938 - 2012 Ronald E. Rohmiller was born January 5, 1938 in Mapleton, Iowa to Fred and Helen (Brummer) Rohmiller, the 9th of eleven children. At the age of 8 the family moved to a farm outside Lawton where the family continues to farm. He was proud to have graduated eighth grade from Concord #5, the large county school (where the facilities were inside!). He went on to graduate from Heelan Catholic High School in Sioux City and the University of South Dakota at Vermillion with a BS in Accounting. Upon graduation, he headed to California to find employment, settling in Bakersfield, California. He returned to Sioux City in the summer of 1960 to marry his high school sweetheart, Mary Burke Rohmiller. Returning to Bakersfield he practiced accounting for over 30 years. Upon retiring from public accounting he was Chief Financial Officer for Salter Labs in Arvin, California. His health declined after retirement and he took it all in stride and never complained. He is preceded in death by his 9 year old daughter Katie, mother and father; brothers Joe, Gerald and Bernie; sisters Gert Swanger, Elaine Rickert, Darlene Nolen and Pat Bohlman. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary; daughters Bridget Rohmiller of San Diego, Ca, Annette Adlard and husband Tom of Visalia, Ca, and Peggy Swanson and husband David of Irvine, Ca; grandchildren Jason and Tanner Adlard of Visalia, Ca.; sisters Marcile Munson and Noreen Schmidt, brother Lloyd Rohmiller, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a member of the California Board of Accountancy, Past President of Administrative Management Society, Kern Kiwanis, Bakersfield Country Club, Garces Parents Club. He also served on the boards of Catholic Charities and Kern Council of Camp Fire. Ron was very proud to have played in the San Diego and Phoenix Pro-Am golf tournaments where he met and played with many great professional golfers. He enjoyed traveling to Europe, Canada and in the US. He had fond memories of his fishing trips to Alaska with the Salter 'guys' and was proud of all the fish he returned with and shared with his friends. The family would like to acknowledge the wonderful care shown to Ron by Dr. Caroline Wong, Myra, Susan Schwartz, RN (home health nurse), and the staff at Walgreen's option care. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Garces Memorial High School or Catholic Social Services. A viewing will be held on April 26, at 9 am followed by Mass of Christian burial at 10 am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. Burial will be immediately following at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
