After 95 years, our beloved mother, Ruth Olive Mahoney passed away on May 5, 2018. She died peacefully in her sleep surrounded by family. Ruth was born July 1, 1922, in Buenos Aries Argentina, to loving parents Fred and Almeda Aden.
She enjoyed the happiest of home life with her parents, brothers and sisters. Leaving her Argentine home, Ruth came to the United States to attend college. Here she met Jim Mahoney and following a whirlwind courtship of three days, the young couple were married on August 15, 1944, in Culver City, CA.
Ruth and Jim were blessed with five children and raised them here in Bakersfield. She was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church and had many cherished friends there. By profession she was an elementary school teacher for the Bakersfield City School District retiring in 1980. Mom lived a full and happy life centered on her family, church and community service.
She is preceded in death by husband Jim and survived by daughters Faye Saxton of Fresno, CA, Kathy Colbert of Grants Pass, OR, Susan Dunn of Bakersfield, CA and sons Jim Mahoney of Bakersfield, CA and Mike Mahoney of Bull Head City, AZ, as well as twelve grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren
