Terry Havins was relieved of his earthly pain and suffering and restored to eternal health on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, following a courageous battle with cancer. Terry was a true Texas gentleman He had a heart for God and a compelling desire to share Him with others. He enjoyed preaching at Coronado Baptist Church and churches in Texas while Visiting family.
His love language was a hard work and service to God and he spoke it fluently. His family and many friends
knew he was there for anything they needed and rarely had to ask. They were second only to God and his beloved "Darlin" Marsha, whom he met on his birthday in 1984 and loved for the next 37 years.
This love story was not a smooth one. After seven years, even in the stages of planning a wedding, they decided to end their relationship and go their separate ways. they met again in 2011 and even though 20 years had passed, one thing remained; The love they had for each other. The love they shared still carried a spark, as it had years before. They decided to live out their happily ever after and married on Sept 17, 2011.
Terry was born December 15, 1949 in San Angelo TX. After high school, he moved to Denison, Tx where he began his career as a welder, under the instruction of Tom Barr. Terry and Tom became close friends and Terry named his son after his friend. The next stop for Terry was Pasadena, Tx where he worked as an oil field welder for Brown and Root. in 1984 Terry moved to Bakersfield, Ca and worked for HDB.
Terry was a master welder, known as "The Legend" and highly respected by all who worked with him.
Terry is survived by his wife Marsha of Bakersfield, Son Thomas Barr Havins and wife Tisha of San Angelo, Tx, daughters Shelley Moore of Pismo Beach and Kim Blesener and Jeff of Bakersfield, sister Lynda Davis of Kingsland, Tx and sister-in-law Clydene Hill and Steve of Bakersfield, grandchildren Haley Smith, Hannah Espinosa, Emma Jay Havins, Kaleigh, McKenna and RJ Mullins, nieces and nephews Paula Havins, Ray Havins and Trixie, Michael Havin, Johnny Davis and Debbie, Milton Davis and Jeannie, Lisa Lechow and Coy, Debi Fisher and Scott, Kim McDonald and David, Jessica Reckenwald and Andrew and Justin McDonald and Ashley and a great many friend and co-workers who considered him family.
He was preceded in death by his parents Cleo M and Viola Fay Scarborough Havins and his brother
Milton Ray Havins.
Services will be held at Coronado Baptist Church in Bakersfield at 11:00 am on Tuesday Sept 7
