Wen Garbalosa, born March 28, 1942, in Tampa, FL, passed away on July 29, 2024, at his home in Bakersfield, CA. Wen was a loving husband to his wife Nancy of 62 years, a loving dad to his two daughters Cindy and Cathy, and a loving grandpa to his four grandchildren Emily, Lea, Mitchell, and Paisley. Wen was a family man and it showed at all the birthday and holiday gatherings at the home he and Nancy shared together for over 45 years. Thanksgivings were formal sit-down dinners inside or on the patio, and even in the garage. Easters were especially special as he had a knack of remembering an event that happened in everyone’s life that year and drew a picture on an egg that resembled that event.
Wen started his manager sales career at Goodyear Rubber Company in Los Angeles, CA, as well as selling suits at Sears Roebuck Department Store. In 1974, he moved his family to Bakersfield where he finished his career at Applied Industrial Technologies, which was also known as King Bearing. After his retirement in 2007, he and Nancy enjoyed many memorable trips with Nancy’s sister Judy and her husband Jim. From cross country trips in their motorhomes, to cruises, to other countries abroad.
Wen was preceded in death by his father Julio Garbalosa, mother Zoila Garcia, brothers Joe and Julio, and sister Linda. He is survived by his wife Nancy, daughters Cindy Jackson (Todd) and Cathy Carlson (Wendell), grandchildren Emily Clay (Nick), Lea Carlson, Mitchell Jackson (Sarah), and great-granddaughter Paisley Bolin, as well as brothers and sisters-in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
Wen will be remembered for his quick wit, always willing to help others, and his “pearly whites.”
Graveside service is scheduled for Saturday, August 10, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., at Hillcrest Memorial Park, with a reception following at the Garbalosa house for a light lunch with some of his favorite foods.
