Amalia Iselda Bruce

Amalia Iselda Bruce passed away peacefully at her home in Barstow, California, on April 12, 2026, at the age of 96. She was born on October 19, 1929, in Willard, New Mexico, to her loving parents, Flavio and Clorinda Garcia.

Amalia dedicated 24 years of service as a laundry worker at MCLB. She carried herself with strength and grace and her infectious smile brought comfort and joy to those around her. She left a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of knowing her, living a life defined by resilience, strength, and love.

Family was the center of Amalia’s world. Her love was constant, unconditional, and deeply felt by all who knew her. She created a lifetime of cherished memories that will continue to live on through the many lives she touched. Though small in stature, she lives on through a great lineage spanning five generations.

She is survived by her siblings George (Cathy) Garcia, Ramona Baca, Francis Gomez, Viola Rodriguez, Odie (Mike) Enriquez, and Johnny (Ruth) Garcia. She also leaves behind her children Leroy (Mary Helen) Otero, Gloria (Ralph) Garcia, Trini (Sabra) Otero, Lydia Otero, and Karen Jenkins.

Amalia lovingly raised three grandchildren who held a special place in her heart; Jesse Sisneros, Cassandra (Aaron) Dixon, and Angelica (Adam) Rodriguez. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Arthur Bruce; her sons, Nandy, Danny, and Paul Otero; her parents Flavio and Clorinda; her grandsons, Ralphie and Filimon Garcia; and her siblings Benny, Eloy, Severo, Tony, Amy, and Eva.

Amalia will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her kindness, her strength, and the love she gave so freely. Her spirit will continue to shine through her family and all who were blessed to know her.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 24, 2026.

Rosary will begin at 9:00am, followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:00am , both held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 505 E. Mountain View St. Barstow, CA.

Graveside services will follow at 11:30am at Mt. View Cemetery, 37067 Irwin Rd. Barstow, CA.
