

Genaro (Jerry) Guardado went to be in peace with Jehovah and his beautiful wife, Mary Alice Guardado, on May 15, 2016. Jerry was born on September 28, 1931 in El Centro, CA to Juan and Nieves Guardado. In 1952, at the age of 19, he joined the Marines and served through 1954. Jerry was stationed in Barstow and first met Mary Alice at the local dance hall, Raquel's. He spent the next 63 years as a resident of Barstow where he was the owner of Rosita's Restaurant. He also played the role of dishwasher, bartender, repair man, prep cook, and greeter until he retired in 2006. Jerry was proceeded in death by his wife of 61 years, Mary Alice; his parents Juan and Nieves Guardado; his grandson Anthony Genaro Grossman; his sidekick dog Sabrina; and 2 brothers Emilo and Manuel Guardado. He is survived by many who love him including his children Rosemary Guardado-Higgins; Geraldine Smith; Anna Lemme and her husband Bill; Margaret Grossman; Genaro (Jerry Jr.) Guardado Jr. and his wife Diana; 13 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers; 1 sister; and his faithful dog Zadie, as well as countless family members and friends. A celebration of his life will be held on June 5th at 12pm (doors will open at 11am) at The Performing Arts Center of Barstow College at 2700 Barstow Road, Barstow, Ca. 92311. A reception will be held at Rosita's Restaurant 540 W. Main St. Barstow, CA 92311 immediately following services. Please bring a dish to share.
