Jose Robert Barela

Jose Robert Barela of Barstow California passed away peacefully on January 29th 2025 at the age of 83. Born on May 20th 1941, to Moises Barela and Virginia Zamora. Jose has 5 siblings Agnes Silva, Rudy Barela, Eddie Barela, Benny Barela and Teresa Flores.

He is survived by his 3 daughters, Virginia Chavez, Elizabeth Milner and Margaret Rodriguez. His 4 grandsons Joel, Steven Jr., Daniel and Isaac. His 5 granddaughters, Alyshia, Victoria, Mary, Paula and Angela. And 15 beautiful great grandchildren

Jose Robert Barela 's was known to a lot of people as one of the best runners in Barstow, he set many records and was awarded many trophies in high school and even made his way to the Olympic trials. He also served in the United States Army where he was a paratrooper, he also loved to run during the time he served. Jose then went on to work for Santa Fe for many years as a welder and a boiler maker. Jose will be dearly missed by all his family

A committal for Jose will be held Monday, March 17, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Boulevard, Riverside, CA 92518.
