Phyllis Holley was born July 24th 1953 in Beaver Creek Fl. After finishing high school in 1972 she joined the U. S. Marines and served our country as a Communications Systems operator for three years. She then transitioned her skills to the Army Corps of Engineers where she worked at the National Training Center on for Irwin for 47 years (from 1976-2023) until her death on January 21st 2023. Holley made a lasting impression on every person she met from those she worked with on a regular basis building structures all across the NTC, to those who came to Fort Irwin on assignment or for training and utilized any of the hundreds of buildings and training sites she personally walked through and supervised from sand lot to standing structure. She is survived by her daughter Carrie, her grandson William, and her son in law Joe as well as her two cats Patches and Bud. She was a strong woman who served her country and beat breast cancer all while supporting her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She may be gone from our sight but never from our hearts, may she find peace and continue to watch over her friends and family as we live the best lives we can in her memory. Those who would like to make donations in her memory can donate to the American Cancer society’s Relay for Life or the Women Marines Association.
