06/30/1929 – 05/22/2024
Virginia Gutierrez Saiz of Barstow, California passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 with her loving family at her side. Virginia was born on June 30, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan to Camilio and Lupe Gutierrez. She was raised in Belen, New Mexico by Ignacio and Anita Garcia along with her brothers Juan, Ignacio, and Lalo Garcia. On August 30, 1948 Virginia married the love of her life Jose A. (Tony) Saiz in Belen, New Mexico. They were married 72 years until the time of his passing in 2021. Soon after being married Virginia and Tony moved to Barstow and became devoted members of Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church. Virginia and Tony were also longtime members of the Senior Citizens and enjoyed taking trips with them including trips to Washington DC, New York, Reno and Hawaii. She loved dancing with her husband Tony. Virginia was also a member of the DAV Auxiliary. Virginia was very family oriented, being a loving homemaker to all of her eight children. She enjoyed attending the sporting and school events of her children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Family barbeques were not complete without her delicious homemade chili. Family holiday gatherings hosted by her were anticipated by all because her cooking was always a treat including her enchiladas, beans, red rice, delicious red or green chili, and her mouthwatering meatloaf which could be copied, but never achieved by others. Every time Virginia learned that there would be a new addition to the family she would get her crochet hook and yarn ready to make a blanket for the new baby. It was a beautiful skill and anyone who received one of her beautiful blankets regard it as a treasure. She was an amazing selfless person who loved with all her heart and treasured family above all other things in life. And all who knew her treasured her just as equally.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Tony, daughter Lupe R. (Saiz) Marquez, son Jose A. “Tony” Saiz, Jr., grandson Antonio Donald Saiz, and great-granddaughter Mareigha Saiz, stepmom Celia Gutierrez, brothers Juan Garcia (Vicky), Ignacio Garcia (Bernice), Lalo Garcia, Frank Romero, Raul Gutierrez, and Ronnie Gutierrez.
She is survived by her children Vivian Saiz of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, E.
