Aileen Fenoglio

Aileen Vaughan Fenoglio, 97, passed away on Friday, July 4, 2014 at the home she shared with her daughter and son-in-law in Laguna Woods, California. She was surrounded by family members in a room filled with love. Aileen was born June 4, 1917 in Oakland, Alabama to Robert & Blanche Vaughan. When she was 16 living in Marseilles, IL where her family had moved, she met the love of her life.

Aileen married Charles Fenoglio when she was 17 and they were happily married for over 68 years. Aileen is preceded in death by her husband Charles Fenoglio and son, John Robert Fenoglio. She is survived by her son Charles & wife Nancy, daughters Carole & husband Jon Northrop, Mary Lynn and husband Mike Sutherlin, Catherine Jean Fenoglio, and Janice and husband Glen Bezanson; 11 grandchildren and 9 Great grandchildren with number 10 due in August and number 11 in December.

Aileen and Chuck raised their 6 children in Pasadena, CA and after he retired they traveled for three years and then built a home in Beaumont, CA. Aileen stayed in their home for two year after Charles passed away and then moved to Orange County, CA to be closer to her children.

Aileen loved to sew and cook and was very accomplished at both. Her true passion in life was her family and extended family. She was known for her unconditional love and her sweet nature, and she had a great sense of humor. All who met her grew to love her and her compassionate spirit. She became the second mom to many of her daughters’ friends. She will be missed by her family and many friends.

There will be a Mass at St. Nicholas Catholic Church 24252 El Toro Road in Laguna Woods on August 30, 2014 at 11:30 AM followed by a celebration of life in the parish hall. A graveside visit will take place at the Mt. View Cemetery, 1315 Edgar Avenue, Beaumont, CA at 5:30PM.
