

Donald Lewis Peters, 96, passed away October 9, 2014, at his home in Cherry Valley, California. He was born June 1, 1918, in Stanford, Texas, to Harvey and Mae Peters. When Donald was 3 years old, the family moved to El Centro, California, where he grew up and helped farm with his father on their land. Donald graduated from high school in El Centro. He had three siblings; a brother James and two sisters Loretta and Mary, whom have preceded him in death.
Donald continued living in El Centro until he married Gladys Blanche Low, whom he met when she would come and spend summers with her cousin in El Centro. They moved to Los Angeles near her parents. Don was drafted into the Army in World War II. He became a Staff Sergeant in the motorpool and traveled to several countries in Europe during his military service.
Upon return from the service, Don worked for Lockheed Aircraft until he made the decision to start up his own business manufacturing residential and commercial lighting fixtures. He started in his garage and eventually was very successful and opened up a manufacturing plant with about 20 employees. Don continued to own and operate his business into his late 70's. He sold the business to take care of his wife of 50+ years, who preceded him in death.
Donald is survived by four children, Judy, Michael, Donna and Dianna; three grandchildren, Joey, Jodi and Jennifer; five great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Everyone who knew Donald also knew what a wonderful happy and positive man he was and he would do anything for his family and friends. He was loved and respected and will be very much missed by his family and friends. Donald will always be remembered as having had a full and rich life.
Visitation Wednesday, October 15, 2014, at 9:00am followed by the funeral service at 10:00am, both at Weaver Mortuary, 1177 Beaumont Avenue, Beaumont, California. Interment will follow services at San Gorgonio Memorial Park, 2201 N. San Gorgonio Avenue, Banning, California, where Donald will be laid to rest with his wife.
Arrangements were entrusted to Weaver Mortuary, Beaumont, California.
