He was born and raised in Yonkers, New York with his parents Harold A. and Joan Flanders and his brother Raymond. He lived in Cherry Valley at the time of his death.
He preceded his wife Frances, his brother Raymond and wife Margaret in Florida, and his nephews Robert and Chris and their families in New York.
He spent 4 years in the US Air Force in Florida and France where he worked in the Air Police. He held a variety of jobs and was working for Southern California Gas Company at the time of his retirement.
He completed CERT (Community Emergency Rescue Training) and planned to work on Disaster Preparedness in his 55+ Community. He recently earned his Ham Radio License.
His kindness, honesty and integrity were admired by many.
A memorial service is planned at 11:00 AM on January 8, 2013 at Weavers Mortuary in Beaumont. Burial will follow at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Doctors Without Borders, American Red Cross or cause that promotes helping people in the world.
