Jim was a forensics expert who served the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department for many years. He was involved with the Southern California Firearms Study Group and AFTE.
He was an avid cyclist, amateur Ham Radio enthusiast, a talented photographer, and always ready with a helping hand.
Jim was a long time member of the Ojai Valley Gun Club, where he had many great friends.
He is survived by a sister, Kay Roberts Battenfield Rote, a brother-in-law, Fred Lonsdale; his Nieces, Ann Marie Lonsdale, Cindy Rinks, Bonnie Vitwar; his nephews, Phil Lonsdale, Rick Battenfield, & John Battenfield. He was predeceased by his sister, Nancy S Roberts Lonsdale.
In retirement Jim traveled extensively. He got to watch his beloved Dodgers win the World Series last October and now he will be listening to Vin Scully call games again.
