Born in a farmhouse on April 6, 1934 in Pierce City, MO, Patricia Jeter, departed this life peacefully at home in Sun Lakes surrounded by family on January 6, 2019 after losing her battle against cancer.
Her parents were Cecil Henry Moore and Mildred Marie Peterson. During the difficult depression years her family moved often trying to find work for her dad. They traveled from Missouri to Texas and California, then to New York, back to Missouri, and finally Utica, NY.
In 1954, she married Larry Boef, a soldier she met at a dance at Griffins Air Force Base. After their daughter, Leslie, was born, they moved to California. A few years later, her son, Trent, was born.
Pat was a secretary and housewife most of her younger adult years, until after her divorce in 1977. She went back to school and graduated from Fullerton College as a library technician. She worked for Cypress and Fullerton College, City of Orange, and several other companies.
In 1977 she met John Jeter. He was the love of her life. After they were married in 1978 he took her around the world to all of the countries most of us will never see in person. They called Saudia Arabia and Metairie, LA home for several years before coming back to Orange, CA. They purchased a home in Sun Lakes in Banning, CA in 1994.
She has many family members who will miss her greatly. Her siblings are Carol Hansen (deceased), Rosemary Sciortino, Michael Moore (deceased), and Michele Moore, their spouses and many nieces and nephews. She also has two granddaughters, Lisa Claussen and Kari Vandiver, their spouses, and her great granddaughters, Isabella, Rees, Harper, and Cora Kay. Her step-son through marriage is John (Jack) Jeter, his spouse, and a granddaughter, Nicole.
She filled her life with many activities and made many friends in Beta Sigma Phi sorority, ushering at Blessed St. Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Church, Friendship Club, Dinner Dance Club, Evelyn Hawkins Stardust Dancers, Jeann Svarvars Tap Class, the Sun Lakes Chorale, the Genealogy Club, and the Marine Club. She was also John’s campaign manager and traveling companion for the San Gorgonio Pass Water Board.
All of us who knew her were blessed by her sweet and loving spirit. She is going to be missed, but we know we will see her again someday.
Rosary will be on Thursday, January 10, 2019 from 4-6 p.m. in the Weaver Mortuary Chapel, 1177 Beaumont, CA 92223. The Memorial service will also be held at Weaver Mortuary on Friday, January 11, 2019 at 10 a.m.
