

Paul Joseph Spencer of Cherry Valley, California passed away September 12, 2013. Paul was born November 1, 1939, in Youngstown, Ohio to Charles and Gladys Spencer. Paul graduated from Ursuline High School in Youngstown, Ohio, Class of 1957. After high school, Paul enlisted in the United States Air Force and then soon married his life long love, Judy Varley in 1961.
Together Paul and Judy had two sons Rick and Jeff and were soon traveling to foreign countries and various bases around the United States. The Air Force assigned Paul to bases in Goose Bay, Labrador, Thailand, Germany, Indiana, California and Washington State. After 23 years in the military, performing administration duties for the Air Force, Paul retired to Southern California and worked a number of security jobs in the Inland Empire, one of his favorite post-retirement jobs was Chief of Security at the Hilton Hotel in San Bernardino, California.
Throughout his retirement years Paul enjoyed many passions, he loved going to see new places with his family, working in his cactus garden and following his beloved Notre Dame Fighting Irish Football Team. One of Paul's greatest joys was collecting sports memorabilia, he really enjoyed meeting and talking with old western movie stars and retired sport figures.
Paul is survived by his loving wife Judy of 52 years; son Rick of Ellensburg, Washington; son Jeff (Tana) of Tustin, California; three grandsons Logan, Bennett and Davis and eight brothers and sisters Chuck Spencer of Dayton, Ohio, Ann (Jay) Bocci of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, Mary Race of Plant City, Florida, Dorothy (Bill) Graham of Billerica, Massachusetts, David (Linda) Spencer and John Spencer of Youngstown, Ohio, JoAnne Kelly of Dublin, Ohio and Margaret (Walter) Conroy of Fort Meyers, Florida. Paul was preceded in death by his brother Jim Spencer and his parents Charles and Gladys Spencer.
Visitation at 9:00am and Funeral Mass at 10:00am, Wednesday, September 18, 2013, at St. Frances X Cabrini Catholic Church, 12687 California Street, Yucaipa, California. Graveside service to follow at Riverside National Cemetery, staging area #3, 22495 Van Buren Blvd, Riverside, California with Military Honors by the United States Air Force.
Arrangements were entrusted to Weaver Mortuary, 1177 Beaumont Avenue, Beaumont, California.
