

Raymond Doyle Caulder, a beloved resident of Loma Linda, California, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 30, 2024, at the age of 74. Born on May 6, 1950, in Indio, CA, Ray was the eldest of five children born to Valta (Smith)and Jackson Caulder.
Ray proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1969 to 1972, a period that shaped his values of discipline and camaraderie. He dedicated over 35 years to a career in construction, a field where his strong work ethic and expertise flourished. After his retirement, Ray and his first wife, Pattie, relocated to Oceanside, CA, where he enjoyed the beauty of coastal living.
Ray was a man of many passions; he loved traveling, camping, and gold mining. He had a genuine enthusiasm for life and cherished the connections he made with people along the way. He found immense joy in spending time with family, especially his four grandchildren that he adored: Lain Caulder of Denver, CO, Emersyn Caulder of Sacramento, CA, and Antonio Cassiady and Lexi Padilla of Lincoln, CA.
Ray is survived by his wife, Layla Caulder of Arcadia, CA; his daughter, Carrie Caulder of Auburn, CA; and his son, Trevor Caulder of Lincoln, CA. He is also survived by his mother, Valta Caulder of Folsom, CA; his brothers, Robert Caulder of Livermore, CA, and Dennis Smith of Hemet, CA; and his sisters, Kathy Lopes of Sacramento, CA, Patricia Temple of Milford, NJ, and Mary Caulder of Folsom CA. He leaves behind his Aunt Maggie Racadio of Beaumont, CA. He was preceded in death by his father, Jackson Caulder; his brothers James, Kenneth, Joe, Donald, and Robert Smith; and his sister, Shirley Mann.
