Wally Lee Bernhardt, age 82, passed away at the VA in Loma Linda, surrounded by family on May 9th, 2018. He was Born May 15th, 1935 in Laurel, Montana to Lydia and Conrad Bernhardt. At the age of 16, Wally joined the United States Air Force, where he would participate in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He served a combined 42 years in both active and civil service. He was known by his colleagues as a trusted friend and mentor. While overseas, he met his wife, his “English Rose” Marjorie, and the two would be married on February 16th, 1956. They were married 54 years before her passing in 2010. His family knew him as a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Wally is survived by his daughter Gaynor Bernhardt; son Mark Bernhardt (wife Debi); granddaughters Melissa Reliford (husband Charles), Alyssa Moore, Amanda Moore and grandson Andrew Petrolino. He is also survived by four great grandchildren James, Adrianna, Mariah and Xavier. Although he will be missed tremendously one of the things that stood out with Wally is that he always had a great attitude about life and people. To make each person’s day he would make it a point to tell them: “Have a great day - and that’s an order!” We were all blessed to have had him in our lives.
