

Mr. Wohlers was born on Jan. 7, 1923 on a farm near Sterling, Nebraska. He has lived in Sun Lakes Country Club since 1987. He and his late wife, Donna, were the first residents to move to Sun Lakes in August 1987.
Walt, as family and friends knew him, served as a B-29 pilot and flight engineer during WWII. He attended Wesleyan University and graduated from the University of Nebraska, remaining a loyal Huskers fan to the end. He held two master’s degrees in school administration and math. He spent 43 years in secondary education as a math teacher, football coach and school administrator. His last 30 years were spent at Eisenhower High School in Rialto. His first position was at Wilber, Neb. in 1947. He retired from education in 1990.
Mr. Wohlers was a life-member of the National Education Association and a member of the California Retired Teachers Association. He enjoyed playing golf with friends at Sun Lakes and entertaining as a standup comedian.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Donna Meyer Wohlers; and four brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Lori Lai; daughter, Suzan Iverson and husband, Jack, of Capistrano Beach, Calif; son, Robert Wohlers and wife, Margerie, of Gridley, Calif.; three grandchildren: Michelle Hausz, Chris Wohlers and Alana Wohlers; two great-grandchildren: Morgan and Cameron Hausz; and 12 nieces and nephews.Services for Walter H. Wohlers will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Beaumont. He died from a stroke on Dec. 29, 2016 at Loma Linda University Medical Center.
He will be interned at the Riverside Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Riverside. The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 1320 W. Williams, Banning, CA 92220 where he was a member.
