
Anna ‘Beatrice’ Helton, 84 of Oak Hill, passed away at her home on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 following an extended illness. Born on the 21st day of December 1929 in Deep Water, WV; a daughter to the late Samuel E. Comer and Naomi Miller Comer. Beatrice retired as a clerk for the United States Postal Service having worked at many post office locations in the area with her most recent being in Mount Hope. She enjoyed gardening and planting flowers. Often she was known as the ‘cake lady’ because of the amount of time she spent baking for others for fun and for special occasions. Survivors include her son, Robert D. Helton II, whom retired from the Raleigh County Public Library, and his companion Geraldine Kasper of Oak Hill; daughter, Kathyrn Helton, whom was a long time employee of White Dodge/Kia of Charleston, of Charleston, WV; sister, Jean Holland of Oak Hill; brother, John C. Comer of Little Orleans, Maryland; nephew, J.C. Comer, Jr., of Little Orleans, Maryland; and nieces, Tammy Holland and husband Terry Vealey of Beckley and Jessica Stanley and husband Scott and their son Jacob of Oak Hill. Services will be conducted at 2pm Monday, August 4, 2014 at the Blue Ridge Funeral Home Chapel in Beckley with Rev. Jerry Staples officiating. Entombment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum also in Beckley. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held from noon until the time of service on Monday. Flowers will be graciously accepted, however, donations of sympathy may be sent to Hospice of Southern West Virginia, 454 Cranberry Drive Beckley, WV 25801.
