Mr. Billy Ray McClaugherty

Mr. Billy Ray McClaugherty, age 83, of Hinton, West Virginia passed away on Friday, January 31, 2025. Born on October 10, 1941, at Raleigh, he was the son of the late Howard McClaugherty and Martha Teel McClaugherty.

Billy loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and riding four wheelers (especially his Rhino). He also loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Billy started his career in Maryland in construction and electrical work and later returned to West Virginia, where he worked as an electrician and plant supervisor in the coal industry for many years.

He was a long-time member of New Hope Church of the Nazarene in Hinton, where he also served on the board.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings Howard McClaugherty Jr., Nancy Slocum and Patty Jo Wriston.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 63 years, Rita Flanagan McClaugherty of HInton, his sons Michael McClaugherty of Crab Orchard, Billy McClaugherty and wife Lynn of Crab Orchard and Franklin McClaugherty and wife Crystal of Sandstone; Grandchildren Miranda McClaugherty, Nathan McClaugherty, Ethan McClaugherty, Haydan McClaugherty, Matthew McClaugherty and wife Ashley, Coen McClaugherty and Janessa, Frankie McClaugherty and Ava McClaugherty; Great grandchildren Connor, Cora, Layla and Abrielle; as well as his siblings Reba Minor and husband Charles of Lynchburg, VA, Maebelle Payne of PA.' Larry McClaugherty and wife Donna of MD, and Randy McClaugherty and wife Sally of Mabscott.

Funeral service will be held on Friday February 7, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Blue Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Eddie Crews officiating. Friends may gather with the family from 11:00 am until the time of the service. Billy will be laid to rest at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to New Hope Church of the Nazarene 1391 Summers St. Hinton, WV 25951. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
