A car enthusiast, family man, and devote Baptist while Burlis has gone to rejoin his Father in Heaven his loss has been felt in the community and his family. His siblings, nieces and nephews were the light of his life and they remember him fondly as a kind and loving man that would spend all year ensuring his blood sugar stayed on the low end just so he could enjoy a healthy portion of his sister’s (and later niece’s) peanut butter fudge for the holidays.
He spent his life working hard and caring for his family but enjoyed taking a break to participate in local car shows whenever he could. Even when he didn’t get to show his own award-winning Corvette and IROC-Z he still enjoyed going to see other classic cars and engaging with the community. When the family was taken care of and there wasn’t a car show in sight, Burlis turned to his faith. He attended First Baptist Church of Prosperity and Cranberry Baptist with his family. And he loved to read scripture and everything he could on his faith, taking pleasure in books by Dr. David Jeremiah, which he would recommend to anyone he spoke to.
Greeting him at the pearly gates are his parents Lonza and Mabel Meadows; brothers Sherman Meadows, Bob Meadows (and wife Linda); sisters Dixie Harvey, Carolene Vance (and husband Jack), Betty Sizemore (and husband Jim); brother in-laws Dwight Trent, Tom Barron; nephews Craig Morris, Mike Sizemore; and niece Kathy Sizemore.
Left to cherish his memory are sisters Donna Morris (and husband Larry), Sandy Trent, and Imorene Barron; as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to Blue Ridge Funeral Home in Beckley, WV on October 2nd, 2025, for a visitation starting at 12pm and funeral service with pastor Vernon Sears officiating at 1pm. Entombment at the Faith mausoleum at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens to follow services.
