

Born June 8, 1939 in Carlisle, West Virginia, Cora was an LPN and worked many years at Jackie Withrow Hospital, formerly Pinecrest, the VA Medical Center and Beckley Newspaper. She was a longtime active member of Mt. Hope United Methodist Church, serving many years as a piano player. She was very active in the Benevolence Ministry and a greeter for Mt. Hope Youth Basketball program. ‘Granny’ never met a stranger, had a giving heart and you never left her presence without getting a gift.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Commander Lee Earl Barret, Jr; sister, Ellen Fedele; nephew, Tom Fedele.
Those left to cherish her memory includes her children, Deborah Maynor and husband Randy, Terry Liss Athey and husband Jeffery, Nancy “Toni” Liss Rizer and fiancé Jason Hubbard, Dawn Liss McClung, Staci Liss Long and son-in-law James Long, Stanley A. Liss II and wife Beronda, Mark Liss and fiancé Rebecca Wood and Lee Alexandra Barret Dunlap and fiancé David; 20 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; brother, Clarence “Ray” Crumb; a host of nieces, nephews, friends and beloved church family.
Friends may gather with the family Sunday, October 9, 2016 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home from 12-2pm.
Funeral service will be held 2pm, Sunday, October 9, 2016 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home with Pastor Les Allen officiating.
Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens with grandsons serving as pallbearers.
