Dana was a 1961 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. She married her first and only love, Sonny, on July 27, 1963 and remained happily married until his homegoing in 2009. Dana was an incredibly devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother; spending her last Mother’s Day weekend talking and coloring with those she loved.
Dana was a dynamic person that never met a stranger and made a friend every where she went. A natural-born peace keeper, she worked hard to keep her family close through holiday traditions and family meals. She had a gift for making people feel welcome and at ease, her home was always open to all.
Children were naturally drawn to her, an ability that she used to serve the Lord. She taught each of her children and grandchildren about Jesus, a legacy that will live on for eternity. In addition to her family, she used her gift to teach hundreds of children and teenagers in Sunday School, Youth Group, and Vacation Bible School over many decades.
Once her children were grown, she and her husband served as Teacher Parents at New River Ranch in Fayetteville, WV. Selfless in every sense of the word, Dana was a volunteer at Pinecrest, now known as Jackie Withrow Hospital, for over 20 years. Dana’s generosity and humility will be remembered by all who loved her. No one deserves to hear, “Well done My good and faithful servant” more than Dana Christine Hinkle Bailey. She will be deeply missed.
