Edward E. Boyd

Edward E. Boyd, 89 of Mt. Hope, passed away on Friday, April 15, 2016. Born November 1, 1926, he was the son of the late Ira and Pink Minnix Boyd. Edward proudly served with the United States Navy in WWII. In addition to his parents, Edward is preceded in death by his wife, Catherine “Kitty” Boyd; brothers, Bill, Richard, Harry and Woodie; sisters, Grace Lamaster and Nell Schutt; daughter, Cathy Boyd. Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, George Boyd and wife, Joan of Lexinton, NC, Scott Boyd of Bradley, WV ,son-in-law, Neal Portzen of Dothan, WV; daughter, Jane Meadows and husband, Jimmy of Bradley, WV; grandchildren, Chris Grose and wife, Debbie, Melissa Goodson and husband, John, Mathew Grose and wife, Kasey, Bryan Meadows and wife, Megan, Ashley Sole and husband, Daniel; Emily Boyd, Nikki Zapata and husband, Ivan, Jennifer Noonan, Micky Portzen and wife, Jessi, Melanie Garrity and husband, Chris; great-grandchildren, Mahkai Grose, Maverick Grose, Shyloh Grose, Atticus Goodson, Cyrus Goodson, Owen Grose, Madelyn Sole, Grayson Sole, Weylin Portzen, Lillian Portzen, Jax Garrity, Andrew Noonan, Aiden Noonan, Liliana Zapata, Liam Zapata; many nephews and nieces. Services will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday, April 17, 2016 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley with Rev. Darrell Fuller officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Chris Grose, Mathew Grose, Daniel Sole, Bryan Meadows, John Goodson and Neal Portzen. Friends may gather with the family Sunday from 3 – 4 PM at the funeral home.
