

Emma Marie Hodge Thompson, 92 of Beckley, passed away, Friday, March 4, 2016. She was the daughter of the late Elijah J. Hodge and Bertie Dolin Hodge. She was born March 9, 1923 at Notomine, West Virginia. She loved the Lord, and was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy. She enjoyed going to Bible Study. She loved gardening, being with her family, and caring for her children and grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Van Sterling “Jinx” Thompson; daughters, Kathy R. Thompson George and Valerie Lynn Thompson Stephens; son, Aubrey F. Thompson; brothers, Emmert Hodge and Lairdy B. Hodge; and sisters, Bertha Hodge Mulkey and Linda Hodge Lewis. She is survived by her two sons, Calais J. Thompson and wife Sue of Chester, VA, Davy R. Thompson of Barboursville, WV; daughter, Vanessa R. Thompson of Beckley, WV; brothers, Robert F. Hodge of MD, Thomas R. Hodge and wife Ruby of Ashland , KY, Elijah “Jack” Hodge and wife Bobbie of MO, Lowell Hodge of Oak Hill, WV, and Sherman Hodge and wife Betty of Christiansburg, VA; sisters, Arlene Hodge Kincaid and husband Sonny of Momence, IL; Grandchildren, Brad S. Thompson, Melissa A. Thompson Ball, Kelly A. Stephens, Patrick R. Thompson, LeAnn L. Thompson Auer, Lora D. Stephens, Lora Hosey Fisher, Natalie Marie Thompson, and Nathan R. Thompson; 11 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and a host of beloved nieces and nephews and beloved caregivers, Eva Jacob, Loretta Pack, and Angie Cadle Pesta. Service time will be at 2pm, Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, with Pastor Ray Kirkland and Pastor Michael Patterson, of the Church of God Family Worship Center, officiating. The family will receive friends from 1pm- 2pm, prior to the service at 2pm. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens with family and friends to serve as pallbearers.
