

Gladys S. Carpenter, 88, of Princeton, formerly of Beckley, went to be with the Lord, June 21, 2015 after a short illness. Born November 2, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Tom and Mary Webb. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Maxwell Scott Carpenter and brother, Jim Webb. Gladys came from a family of hairdressers and had her own beauty college in Vero Beach, Florida prior to moving to West Virginia. She was an avid animal lover and cherished her two cats, Big Boy and Snowball. Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Tom Carpenter and his wife Teresa of Princeton, WV; a granddaughter, Misti French and her husband William of Princeton, WV; and a great-granddaughter, Alexandria French of Princeton, WV; three sisters, Betty Jo Dowler, Joyce Gregg, and Linda Dempsey all of Beckley, WV; and several nieces and nephews. Gladys was a member of Burke Memorial Baptist Church, where her son Tom had the privilege and honor to baptize her. Graveside service will be held at 1:00PM Wednesday June 24, 2015 at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens with her son, Pastor Tom Carpenter officiating.
