Born to parents Henry and Mary Kale, at 20 he joined the United States Air Force, serving his country before an honorable discharge and remaining a proud veteran for life. After his time in the military he married the love of his life Betty (Martin) Kale, with whom he would not only raise two children but spend 71 blissful years together before her passing in 2022. His children remember him not only as a father but a remarkable man entirely. He was strong in his faith, attending First Baptist Church in Beckley, but when he wasn’t working or attending church he loved to hunt when he could and work on his home, if one ladder wasn’t enough for the job he always had another on stand-by. He also enjoyed spending time talking with anyone that he could whether it was going with his daughter to church, KFC dinners with his son, or a Dairy Queen Ice Cream with anyone he could, he truly loved to sit and talk and enjoy the company of others.
He has been greeted at the Pearly Gates by his parents Henry and Mary Kale, his beloved wife Betty Kale, and his in-laws that were like second parents to him, Curtis and Hazel Martin. Left to cherish his memory are his son, Gary Kale and wife Tammie; daughter Dianna Bailey and husband Larry; grandchildren Christopher Link, Matthew Link, Derek Kale, and Brittany Kale-Sauls; great-grandchildren Dylan Link, Haylea Link, and Jaxson Sauls; and his sister-in-law Delores Darby-McGhee.
Services will be held at 1 pm on Thursday Jan. 21st, 2026 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home of Beckley, WV. Friends are invited to join the family for a visit for an hour prior to services. In addition to sending flowers those wishing to honor his memory are invited to make donations to the First Baptist Church in Beckley, WV.
