Ira was preceded in death by his parents, son William "Jeff" Lee, and brother William "Tommy" Lee.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Alma Lee; sons, Ira Timothy (Tammy) Lee of Sophia, John (Missy) Lee of Glasgow, and Michael (Hilary) Lee of Beaver; daughter Patricia (Gary) Wriston of Clover, SC; brothers Carl (Joan) Lee of Mt. Washington, KY, Donald (Dottie) Lee of Bradenton, FL; sister-in-law Ilene of Grays Lake, IL; stepdaughter Audrey (Darrin) Medlin of Buffalo, NY. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, Tiffany, Brandon, John Jr., Aaron, Alex, Grant, Garrett, Samuel, Jacob, Tori, and Tristan; and four great-grandchildren.
Ira was a member of Calloway Heights Baptist Church where he taught the Friendship Sunday School class for years. He enjoyed singing in the choir and lead the congregational hymns. Ira was a member of Gideon International. As a Gideon, he spoke in churches and distributed Bibles.
Having been raised in a coal-mining community, Ira loved sharing coal-mining stories. His father got Ira a job in the mines at an early age. This interest eventually lead to a mining inspector position at MSHA.
An avid golfer, Ira won numerous golfing tournaments locally and participated at the state level.
Services will be held at Calloway Heights Baptist Church on Thursday, September 23, 2021, at 2:00 pm with Pastor Bill Horton Officiating. Friends may gather with the family from 12:00pm until the time of service.
Entombment will be at Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Gideons International, Beckley Gideon Camp, P.O. Box 713, Beckley, WV 25802.
