James R. Caldwell Sr.

Born on November 13, 1937, he was the son of the late Wick Caldwell and Goldie Fitzwater Caldwell.

James was a graduate of Gauley Bridge High School, and spend his day working as a strip miner at several mines, including Denney Coal, Cedar Coal, Colony Bay Coal, Arch coal and Hobet Mining. He loved to work and spend time around people.

In his free time, James enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, James was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara Anne Caldwell and a daughter, Deborah Anne King.

Those left to cherish his memory include his son, James R. Caldwell Jr. and wife Annette of Hugheston, WV; a daughter, Tamra Richmond and husband David of Beaver, WV; grandchildren, Tres, Jordan, Brandon, Matthew, Brian, Tyler, Megan, Lydia and Kalah; and great-grandchildren, Aiden, Azyln, Landon, Bailey, Alex and Bryson.

Services to celebrate the life of James will be on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at 1 PM at Blue Ridge Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior. James will be laid to rest at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens following the service.
