James "Duck" D Harris

James "Duck" Harris, of Artie, was born on September 24, 1940 in Colcord, West Virginia to the late Carl and Mildred (Buzzard) Harris. He went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 3, 2020 in Beckley, West Virginia at the age of 79.

Duck is preceded in death by his parents and 4 brothers John, Paul, Buford, and Rodger Harris. Duck leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 56 years, Reba Jean (Williams) Harris; children Kevin (Brenda) Harris of Dorothy, WV, Rodger (Michelle) Harris of Estill, SC, Foy "Mack" Meador Jr. of Davisburg, MI, David Meador of Floyd, VA, Glen Meador of Springfield, GA, Blaine (Teresa) Meador of Dorothy, WV, and Sharon (Mark) Ramsey of Clear Creek, WV; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; brother Michael (Gilda) Harris of Newport, TN, and many extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.

Duck was a 1960 graduate of Clear Fork High School and was a successful business owner of a drywall contracting company in Michigan. He then returned back to his home in WV to continue drywalling and later retiring from coal mining. Duck was a true man's man who loved to work, fish, hunt, and relax on his front porch. His true passions in life were his family and his faith in the Lord. He will be forever remembered as a caring and giving man.
