

Karl John “Jack” Klaus Jr, 90, of Beaver went to be with the Lord Thursday April 20, 2017 Jack was born in Beckley, WV on August 22, 1926. He was the son of the late Karl and Lucille Ullrich Klaus. He is survived by his wife of 41 years Mary Freeman Della Mea Klaus. He attended St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church. Preceded in death by Katherine Kennedy “Kitty” Klaus, the mother of his eight children, brothers, Bill and Dick Klaus, and sisters, Mary Louise Klaus and Carolyn Page. He is survived by a brother, Bob (Frances) Klaus sister Charlotte (Joel) Gaydos, brother-in-law Bill Page and sister-in-law Fran Klaus. Preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, Corbett and Mabel Freeman, brothers-in-law James Freeman and Corbett Freeman Jr, sister-in-law Bettie Auvil, also surviving brothers-in-law, Tommy (Mary) Freeman, Jackie (Phyllis) Freeman, and sister-in-law Ann (late Russell) Elkins. Left to cherish his memory are his children Kathy (Roger) Richmond, daughters, Kris and Mandy (Scott) Cantley, Karen (Bill) Goodwin, sons William (Anissa) and J.D. (Meagan) Goodwin, Jackie Spicer, son Karl and daughter Cassandra, Martha (A.T.) O’Hare, Beth (Danny) Oglesby, sons, Jeremy (Angela Jones) and Jeff (Afton) Oglesby, Karl (Pat) Klaus III, Michael (late Vickie) Klaus, Charlotte Klaus, daughter Katie (Michael) Avant, son Jack Blevins, late Sheray (late David) Worley, Daughter Roberta (Muhmoud) Masoud, Herman (Cynthia) Worley, Nathan (Wendy) Worley, daughter JO Ellen (Joseph) Lagowski, Randall (Tamara) Lagowksi, late (Matthew), Cathy Jo (Randy) Thomas, late husband Jack Pauley, daughter Megan (Bryan) Meadows, Kristina Meredith, son James Thomas, Joe Pete (Late Kim) Della Mea and son, Levi Newberry, April (Bert) Keener, sons Joshua, Teddy and adopted son T.A. Weeks. A 1944 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, Jack was a member of the American Legion Bugle Corp and Civil Air Patrol. He was a World War II Veteran of the Army/Air Force and received the Victory medal and Asiatic Pacific Service Medal. Jack helped run the family business, Klaus Office Equipment and later started his own business, Blue Jay Office Supply, INC. He was a member of the American Legion Post #32, Beckley Moose Lodge and Benevolent & Protective Order of the Elks. His interest were bowling, fishing, golfing, gardening, and spending time on the family island, Christmas Island. He loved swimming in his pool with his grandchildren. He enjoyed coaching little league and midget league football. He was the Grand Marshall of the 2016 Veteran’s Parade, and was honored on his 90th birthday by the American Legion Post #32 for his service with several awards and medals. Jack (Poppy Jack) had a very large extended family which included 16 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 13 great great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and friends. A Mass and Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at 11 AM at St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church. Followed by entombment at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens where he will be honored with a 21 gun salute.
