Luther was a US Army veteran that served in a clerical role from 1947-1949. He returned home and began working as a coal miner. His hobbies included, raising rabbit beagles, mowing his lawn on his Cub Cadet mower and growing produce which he gave to everyone in the community.
Luther was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 71 years, Betty Farley Cox; daughter, Donna Cox of Roanoke, VA; sons, John (Karen) Cox of Oak Hill, WV; David Cox of Sophia, WV; grandchildren, Nicole and Natalie Lilly of Roanoke, VA, Jodie (Justin) Pruett of Charleston, WV, and Mathew (Lindsey) Cox of Maple Fork, WV.
Funeral Service will be held at Blue Ridge Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Ken Killian officiating.
Friends may gather with the family on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 from 12 – 1 pm.
In keeping with CDC guidelines all guests must wear facial coverings at all times within the facility.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations of sympathy be made to Hospice of Southern WV.
The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice and the Oak Hill Place for the care and compassion they have received.
