Otis D Gautier

Otis D. Gautier, 97, of Crab Orchard, WV, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the Bowers Hospice House in Beckley. He was born September 8, 1926 in Alpoca, WV to the late Vivian Coburn and Kelly Burton Gautier.

After graduating high school Otis joined the United States Army, where he was a platoon Sgt. serving during WWII, receiving the Victory Medal. Following the war Otis married the love of his life Jacqueline Meadows on December 25, 1946.

Otis retired as a mine foreman from Westmoreland Coal Company of 38 years. During his free time he enjoyed spending time at the camp on Greenbrier River, golfing, and spending time with his family.

Otis will be reunited with his parents, his wife, 2 sisters, and 2 brothers.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Judith Elaine Coleman (Rodger) and Otis Kelly Gautier and companion Vicki, granddaughters, Leigh Young (Matt) and Jennifer Lambert (Mike), 5 great-granddaughters, 2 great great-granddaughters, and a great great grandson due February 2024.

A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, December 10, 2023 at 2 PM with Pastor Roger Fox officiating at Blue Ridge Funeral Home with military honors. The family will begin receiving visitors at 12 PM until the time of the service. Otis will be laid to rest on Monday, December 11, 2023 at 10 AM.

In lieu of flowers the family would like donations made in his name to Bowers Hospice House or Mercer County Honor Guard.
