Owen "Preacher" Gene Smith

He was born May 28, 1941 in Raleigh County to the late William and Jessie Smith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life, Margaret Ellen Smith; his daughter, Charlotte Ann Kirk and husband, Michael. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

He is survived by his children, Margaret Smith, Christie Shrewsbury and husband, Norman, Janice Daniels; his only son, William "Bill" Smith and wife, Kelly; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and his golden retriever, "Goldie".

Preacher could always be found at the Pence Spring Flea Market where he had gained many friends and he loved to sale things. He will be forever missed.

Services to celebrate the life of Owen "Preacher" Gene Smith will be held 1:00PM Monday, May 11, 2026 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley with Pastor Shane Roark officiating. Following the services Preacher will be laid to rest at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley. Family and friends will be serving as pallbearers.

Friends may gather with the family from 12:00PM until time of the service Monday at the funeral home.
