Roxie Eunice Dean

Roxie Eunice Dean, 90, was carried home by God’s angels to rest with Him in love, grace, and peace on August 20, 2016. Born on November 21, 1925 in Bluefield, WV, she was the daughter of the late Robert Johnson and Elizabeth Slusher Johnson. Roxie was employed for many years by G.C. Murphy Company as well as Catos. She attended Mullens High School, and was a proud member of Open Door Church in Shady Spring, WV, and she was a member of the Eastern Star. In Roxie’s free time, she enjoyed planting and caring for her flowers. In addition to her parents, Roxie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Dean; daughter, Rebecca Wright; and daughter-in-law, Pamela McKinney. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Sue Stanley and husband Barry of Orlando FL; son, Lee McKinney and companion Frances Hopkins of Daniels, WV; daughter, Cheryl Davis and fiancée Bert Oakley of Roanoke, VA; grandchildren, Lisa Sosebee of Birmingham, AL; Sally Giggetts of Roanoke, VA; Josh McKinney of Shady Spring, WV; and Wayne Wright of Roanoke, VA; 12 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. She is also survived by brother, Merle Johnson of Helena, AL; sister, Virginia Palomares of Norfolk, VA; and many nieces and nephews who she loved very much. Friends may gather with the family on August 23, 2016 from 11-1pm at Blue Ridge Funeral Home. The Funeral service will begin at 1pm with Pastor Don Kelly officiating. Entombment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens with friends and family serving as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Open Door Church - 2875 Ritter Dr, Shady Spring, WV 25918.
