Roy David Withrow

David was born on November 8th, 1951 to Roy (Shorty) and Elizabeth (Sis) Withrow in Oak Hill, WV.

David was active in the Boy Scouts in his youth and was a member of the 1969 graduating class of Collins High School.

After graduation, David attended West Virginia Institute of Technology, studying Engineering, before getting drafted in the Army in 1971. He completed boot camp at Fort Gordon in Georgia and was deployed to Korea from 1972 to 1973.

After his military service, David went on to work in the Mining Industry, working for various companies including Beckley Coal, Precision Testing Labs, and Pocahontas Coal Company. He retired in 2014.

David was also a member of the West Virginia Wildlife Federation as well as the Fayette County Sportsman Association, holding various roles and volunteering to support his passion for the outdoors, which he shared with his family.

David’s hobbies included taking his kids hunting and fishing, spending time at the family camp, supporting his children’s sporting events, enjoying time with his grandchildren, and landscaping/flower gardening.

He was a member of the St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.

David was preceded in death by Roy and Elizabeth Withrow ( parents), JoAnn Withrow (Sister), and Mike Goddard (Son-in-law).

David is survived in death by his loving wife of 42 years, Donna Withrow of Scarbro; son, Scott Withrow and wife Liz of Fairdale; son Sean Withrow and wife Sarah of Blue Springs, MO; daughter, MaryBeth Goddard of Moundsville; brother John Withrow and wife Debbie of Oak Hill; brother, Dale Withrow of Battle Creek, MI; sister, Mary Gregory and husband Gordon of Prosperity; brother, Steve Withrow of Scarbro; and sister, Carol Withrow of Rockledge, FL. He is also survived by niece, Amanda Withrow of Oak Hill; niece, Lori Withrow and husband Jeff Toth of Oak Hill; uncle Bill Bernath of Oak Hill; grandchildren, Faith, Kolton, Abby, Barbara, Sammy, Lily, and Emily, and great-granddaughters Dilly and Rosemary. He will also be missed by lots of his loving family.

There will be a visitation for David on Friday, November 1st, 2024 from 6PM to 8PM at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, followed by a Funeral Service on Saturday, November 2nd, 2024 at 11AM at Blue Ridge Funeral Home with his best buddy, Rusty Richardson officiating. David will then be laid to rest at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Steve Withrow, Scott Withrow, Sean Withrow, Rusty Richardson, Josh Wills, and Andrew Elder.
