

Ruby was born April 19, 1926 at Abraham, WV to the late Jessie H. and Nora Adkins Bennett. She was preceded in death by her first husband J. Paul Richmond and her second husband Teddie P. Meadows. Preceding her also were six brothers, Okey, Ray, Glennis, Jessie Jr., Alvin, and Verlin Bennett, and three sisters, Rheda Meador, Eva Richmond, Lucelle Plymale, and stepson Damon Meadows.
Surviving are her daughter Louise Gates and husband L.A., and son Jerry and wife Sandy all of Daniels. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Kellie (Wade) Snyder, Scott (Angie) Riffe, Jon (Kara) Riffe, Dr. Jeffrey (Andrea) Richmond, Philip (Angie) Richmond, and sister, Phyllis Bennett. Also surviving are fourteen great-grandchildren, Nick (Keri), Travis, and Haley Snyder, Hollie, Christian, Jared, and Ryan Riffe, and Isaak, Sidney, Adam, Lauren, Tessah, Baylee, and Owen Richmond; also four great-great-grandchildren, Jack, Nate, Clair, and Laura Snyder. Also surviving are two stepsons Jack (Ellen) and Steve (Martha) Meadows and the Meadows step-grandchildren Nate, Beverly, Norman, Cindy, Marie, Greta, Sarah, and Luke; other step-grandchildren include, Kelli (Jake) Turner and Brian Gates; and three step-great grandchildren, Caroline, Cadey and Tavin Turner.
Ruby attended Raleigh County Schools and was a graduate of the Raleigh County Vocational School of Practical Nursing. She was a delegate to several LPN WV state conventions and a member of District 3 of Raleigh County and served as vice-president, educational, and membership chairman. She was formerly employed at Beckley Miner’s Hospital (BARH) in medical and pediatrics services. She later worked as office nurse for Dr. James Barnes at Beckley Medical Arts.
Ruby was a former member of Daniels Bible Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher, member of the adult choir, and helped organize the first Ladies Mission Circle there. At the time of her death, she was a member of Shady Spring First Baptist Church where she had served with nursing home visitation, was a member of the adult choir and enjoyed participating in the activities of the Golden Agers.
Her hobbies included sewing, quilting, gardening, and babysitting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, April 4 at Shady Spring First Baptist Church with Rev. D.D. Elwell officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may gather with the family from 12:00 PM till time of the service.
