Sanford “Sam” Edward Maynor, 68, of Beckley, WV went to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 in a Beckley Hospital. Born June 14, 1954 at Old Willis Branch Hollow, Pax. He was the son of the late Ross Edward and Della Jane Williams Maynor.
Mr. Maynor was a retired coal miner with 23 years of service. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America.
Sam was a loving husband, had many friends, and was known for his sense of humor and kindness. His wife always said he is the most patient man she ever knew. They shared a wonderful life together and both said it was them against the world where they shared many wonderful times together. He loved the outdoors especially turkey hunting, deer hunting, and ginsenging.
Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 47 ½ years, Mary Lou Gwinn Maynor; four sisters, Ethel Flint of Lanark, Gloria Crew of Stanaford, Margaret Wines of Pax, Florbelle Wines and husband Herman of Pax; and brother, Raymond Maynor of Mossy.
Mourning Sam’s passing includes a special nephew, Alfin Carl Maynor Jr. and a special cousin Russell Lafferty, a special sister-in-law, Brenda G. Michael and special brother-in-law, Gary W. Michael and their family of Richmond, VA, a special sister-in-law, Glenda Treadway of Sand Branch.
Funeral service will be held at Blue Ridge Funeral Home on Monday, September 19, 2022 at 2 pm. with Pastor Gary Bowers officiating. Friends may gather with the family from 12:00 – 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Beckley.
Friends and family will serve as Pallbearers.
