After receiving his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from West Virginia University (his favorite location on the planet), he became a much admired American History teacher at Washington-Lee High School in Arlington, VA. He loved his school and was a stellar faculty member there from 1964 to 1998, as well as being a cross-country coach. His former students still happily recall his antics and impressive lessons, although they occupied his classrooms several decades ago.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tracy (a biology teacher and coach at Mullens High School in WV), and his beautiful mother Vivian (nee Peters). He is survived by his sister Karen Wyatt and her husband Mark McCurdy, of Winder, GA., and his nephew Erik Sizemore. He is also survived by his niece Carrie Read, her husband Aaron, and their four children, as well as his nephew Rob Cunningham, his wife Stephanie, and their three children. His wife Susan Cunningham, also a teacher (A.P. English) in the Washington, D.C. area, survives him after 42 years of marriage.
Tim’s funeral service will be held at Blue Ridge Funeral Home in Beckley, WV on Saturday, March 2, 2024, with internment following at the Blue Ridge Gardens at 5251 Robert C.
