Alice Frances (nee Kolarik) Hoff of Bel Air, Maryland died at the age of 89 on November 14, 2016 at Forest Hill Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born to George and Sophia Kolarik in the heart of Baltimore's Czech immigrant community. She never ceased being proud of her immigrant heritage and Saint Wenceslaus Roman Catholic Church (which was at the center of that community). She was also quite proud of her wartime and post-wartime career as one of Baltimore's telephone operators. She lived in that house on Glover Street with her parents and 4 brothers and sisters until 1952 when she married Robert Hoff, a policeman whom she met 'on the beat" in that neighborhood. The newlyweds bought a house in Baltimore's Overlea neighborhood where they lived for the next 17 years and raised their sons. Then came their move to Bel Air where they remained for the rest of their lives. Wherever she lived, she remained dedicated to the Catholic Church. Alice also always remained devoted to her entire family. She cared for her father daily while he was in the same nursing home in which she spent her last years. Her husband (Bob, Sr.) died 8 years ago. Alice is survived by 16 nieces and nephews and her faithful sons, Bob, Jr.and Bill. In fact, her last meal was one of her favorites, a crab cake on Sunday with Bill !
