I miss you Bernadette! I miss our cooking together.  I miss learning from you.  I miss getting great advice from you.  I miss feeling like you were an adopted mother.   I miss fried bologna sandwiches with you.  I miss crabs with you.  I miss our friendship and conversation.  I miss you telling me things I needed to hear about those who had done me wrong that only you were as much of a  witness to as anyone could be.  I miss sourbratten with you. I miss having a soul sister single mom who understood the struggle.  I miss helping you with computer stuff.   I miss you!

I just learned about Bernadette's passing. We went to school together and "hung out" many decades ago. I will always remember her telling me funny stories and some sad ones too.  Although I had not seen her in years, she left memories with me that I never forgot.

I just discovered she passed away this morning when I dropped off some homemade soup and the kale salad she loved.   I regret not calling or seeing her sooner.  I feel like a awful friend. 

Bernadette was one of my best friends, which may seem odd since she was old enough to be my mother.  She was a loving and trusted advisor.  She was someone I looked up to more than anyone I know.  We had a lot in common.  Not many people know all the hardships she went through in her life.  She was a very private person but she confided just about everything in me and I know of no person who went through so much without anyone's help that did so well for themselves.  


She was someone I want to emulate.  She taught me more things than my own mother about cooking, decorating, and life.   I often though of her as a mother.   

I am am awful friend because I have not kept in touch as much as I should since I missed the fact that she passed away.  

I know she loved her son more than anything in the world.  We would talk about how much she gave to him and how much she loved him.  


I will miss eating crabs with her on her back deck on her beautiful patio furniture.   I will miss her impeccable crisp clean  cold rum and sprite drinks she made for me while we laughed, cried, complained, and hung out together.  

Thank you Bernadette for being so full of life and welcoming. You lived a full and blessed life, overcoming so much and sharing your home with others. God Bless you. Shelley Austin 

To Bernadette's Family, we are so very sorry for your tremendous Loss.  Bernadette was a delightful person, always ready to lend a helping hand.  We are Blessed to hold many great memories with Her, as well as remembering how She always made us laugh.  We will miss You, Bernadette.  Oh, how we will laugh at the trouble of parting, when we meet once again.  Rest Peacefully Dear Friend. as we say Good Night, not Good Bye.
