Bob Van Shura

Robert Van Shura, beloved husband to Susyn, father to Mairin, Kerry and Steve, and Courtney and Sean by marriage, grandfather to Haley and granddogs Jack, Chase and Cooper, passed away on January 13, 2021, at his favorite place in the world-the golf course.

Bob (spelled the same forwards and backwards as he loved to say with a twinkle in his eye) will be so missed by his family and friends. Apart from golf, his greatest love was his family, who he was so proud of, despite the fact that much to his disappointment, none of them inherited his musical talent and were completely tone deaf. He never missed a sports match, logged countless hours doing home improvement projects for anyone who needed it, and was always available to listen, even if it was just to offer a joke or a customary “it is what it is.” His nicknames, dance moves, and ability to pack a car like a Tetris board were legendary.

Our dad hated funerals and viewings, so we are honoring his wishes and celebrating his life privately. If you would like to honor him, please consider a donation to either First Tee, an organization which helps teach at-risk kids how to golf, or the Humane Society of Delaware, where Cooper was adopted.
