Bryce F. Hardy of Fallston, Maryland, passed away on October 24, 2022. Bryce was born in Keyser, West Virginia the son of Bryce Wilson Hardy and (Stella) Beatrice Hardy both deceased. He was the beloved husband of Arlene M. Hardy nee (Strennen), brother to Paul M. Hardy (Norma) (both deceased), his sisters Brenda Quaty (Richard - deceased) and Joyce Sann (Joseph); sister-in-laws of Janet Russell (Kenneth), Roslyn Spigelmire (Paul - deceased), Roberta Oliger (deceased) (Wayne), Sandra Volk (Thomas), and Christine Clevinger (James); brother-in-laws of Hugh Strennen (Beth) and Gregory Strennen (Crystal) and numerous nieces and nephews on both sides of the family.
Bryce went into the Air Force in 1956 and was discharged in 1961. He loved the military life and would have wished to make it his career but family matters overrode his desires. He volunteered for the Honor Guard at George AFB in early 1960 and during his tenure had many interesting adventures such as an escort for Debbie Reynolds. In the Air Force, Bryce found his career in finance. He served at Hahn AFB in Germany; served as a Finance Cashier/Cost Accountant; and served in Incirlik, Turkey for 4 months on an Air Force Strike Team. He continued in this area though out his working life where he met his wife in 1969 working at International Paper Company Folding Carton & Label Division. They were married in May, 1973. Bryce was an estimator and worked up to the Assistant Controller position. He also worked for Maryland Paper Box Company as Assistant Controller, Receiving & Warehouse Manager and then was transferred to Lindley Packaging Company to reorganize their warehouse and streamline operations. Bryce moved onto other companies always with the intent to be cost conscious, efficient and make the environment pleasant for the employees.
Bryce loved to tell jokes. Most were corny but they all told a story. He was Treasurer for Ravens Nest #1 for many years and the highlight of every meeting was for Bryce to tell a joke. This went on even after he retired from the Treasurer position for several years. He never told the same joke twice.
Bryce could have turned pro in Ten Pin Bowling. From the 60’s through the 90’s he held a 198 average. He also was a good golfer, avoiding carrying the snake, if you were low man on the foursome. Snake still resides in his golf-mobile Van that carried many golfers to various courses in Maryland and Pennsylvania.
Bryce was an avid Orioles, Aberdeen Ironbirds and Ravens fan and of course West Virginia Mountaineers.
On the serious side, Bryce was a Master Mason in the Liberty Pickering Lodge #219 and was a 32nd degree Mason in the Scottish Rite Valley of Baltimore. Bryce was also a Shiner in the Boumi Temple and served in the Clown Unit. Bryce recently received his 50 year pin for outstanding service in masonry.
