The McShane Family would like to express their thanks to friends and family for the many letters, cards, flowers, gift baskets, donations and phone messages we received following the sudden death of our dear father.  
It was such a comfort to know that he had touched so many lives in his way.  Your support helped us to cope at this sad time.  We all appreciate these condolence messages more than we can say.

Mac, you will be missed.  When Teresa and I bought your house we became friends with you and Dolores. I could write a lot here but will summarize what I learned from knowing you:
1. Hanging out with young people keeps you young-your words not mine.
2. Despite a divorce-crazy society, you can still stay married and have fun.
3. Buy a modest house, live below your means and see the world.  
Thanks for being an inspiration to Teresa and I.  Sorry we could not attend the viewing but we just learned of your passing.  I have a few things that were original to the house when you sold it to us and would like to pass it on to your family if they would like it. You can reach me at 410-299-8470.  P.S. I was so sad to hear of the passing of Mac.  It warmed my heart to see him at my own father's funeral back in December.  Mac was a true friend and touched everyone's heart that he knew and met.

Growing up I always enjoyed going next door and seeing Mac and Dolores.  Mac was always a good friend to my parents and helped keep an eye on them as well.  

To Tommy, Eileen, Kevin and all of the family I am sorry that I could not be there to say goodbye to him.  You will have to do that for me.  My prayers go out to all of you.

Wow.... Mac....Now this was a TRUE Irishman! His hearty laugh, his huge smile, his jokes that were guaranteed to make you laugh.....always with a twinkle in his eyes! He will be missed. He and Delores had trademark voices. Loud, full of life, full of love! This was a man who loved his family (the kids (all adults), the babies (the grandchildren) ....all with the Irish Pride). My condolences to all of you from the Smith family (Gerald,Janet, and Mary Catherine) and Reda family (my sister Julia, and her family). I am glad I was able to get Mom and especially , Dad, up to see him as Dad wanted to say Goodbye. He was a good buddy to Dad. What an impact and great impression he made on our lives. We toasted to you this evening. May God Hold You Always, in the Palm of His Hand.


Mac you were an amazing man and a loving father-in-law, father, grandfather and a friend to all you met. We all have fond and funny memories of you. You always found a way to brighten our days with laughter and heaven is a brighter place with you there. I want to thank you and mom for accepting me and Jennifer into your lives. You both were such amazing grandparents to her. I loved learning about your parents and family. I enjoyed finding your brother's family for you and enjoyed watching you tell them stories about their father when he was young. I loved researching your family and loved watching how big the family tree grew. Well rest in peace and I will see again one day.


Rest in peace MAC you were not only a great grandpop to have but you taught me a lot about your life growing up and what it was like to be in the war. Your great sense of humor and jokes will always live on thru Tom (my amazing father). You will be missed greatly every single day but never forgotten of how much of an impact you made on everybody's lives. It's very sad that you're no longer with us but at least you are with Nana now. You are loved very much and I will see you again someday

Your Dad was an inspriation on how to live life to it's fullest.  He will be missed greatly by all of us at MaGerk's. He was very proud of you-(his children) and always spoke highly of all of you. I will miss giving him a "peck on the cheek"  Monte and I enjoyed talking to him-he was very sweet and honorable man.  Please take comfort that he was thought highly of by a great number of people whose lives he touched and will be sorely missed.

Eileen, Tommy, Kevin and family,

I am so shocked and saddened by the loss of Mac. He certainly showed us all how to live life to the fullest. When I recently went to a rehearsal dinner at Enotrio, he was there and new all the ladies. They called him MacDaddy. When I went to the dentist, the ladies in the office always asked about him. I don't think there was anyone in Harford County that he didn't know.

I will certainly miss the political conversations that he had with my dad. The energy those two created when they got going could light up an entire grid.

 He was a friend to all and will truly be missed.

You all are in our thoughts and prayers. Please let me know if there is anything my dad and I can do for you.
