A graduate of Mergenthaler Vocational-Technical High School, John went on to a career in printing. After working in the printing industry for 30 years, he started the trade bindery Tabs, Et Cetera, Inc. in Baltimore in 1986. He retired in 2004. John was married to Marlene {Sheets} Schaub for 47 years, living in Fallston and later Bel Air. Growing up in East Baltimore, his family was active at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. He served in the U.S.Army and was stationed in Okinawa. In his early years, he was an avid baseball and softball player. Later, he enjoyed tennis and boating. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and wonderful Pop-Pop to his two grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marlene, his son Michael Schaub of San Diego, CA, his daughter Lisa Schaub Zapach and her husband Drew of New Freedom, PA, and granddaughters Alisyn and Cara Zapach. John is survived by his brother Richard and wife JoAnn Schaub, sister-in-law Juanita Schaub, as well as nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Frederick Franklin Schaub and sister Verna Mae Hayes.
The family will receive friends at Schimunek Funeral Home of Bel Air, Inc. 610 W. MacPhail Rd. Bel Air, MD 21014 on Sunday from 4 to 7 PM. There will be a receiving at St. Mark’s Church Fallston on Monday from 11 AM to 12 PM followed by a Memorial Mass at 12 noon.
